Midoridomi Stained-Glass Lampshade (2003)

This piece is a lampshade made for lighting. Among all the stained-glass styles I wanted to try, this was the one I most wanted to create — something simple and restrained. While I do think stained-glass works that resemble paintings are beautiful, I personally prefer minimal forms.
I made this piece when I was in high school. At the time, I told my teacher, “I’ll put the light in soon, so please wait!” — and then, five years somehow passed. I finally installed the light, so I’m posting the photos at last. Thank you, teacher — and I’m sorry for using so many materials back then.
