A Handmade Trip Booklet for Our Thailand Journey(2013)

We were invited to a friend’s wedding in Thailand — someone we met on a bus while traveling from Cambodia to Thailand — so the four of us decided to make the trip together. To lift everyone’s spirits and build excitement, I created this handmade trip booklet for the journey.
The most challenging part was the binding. Without any specialized equipment, the method I found most reliable was to temporarily hold the top and bottom edges with clips, then drill or pierce holes as close to the edge as possible using a hand drill or awl, stitch the pages together with needle and thread, and finally seal the spine with wood glue.

A trip booklet should make a fun journey even more enjoyable. It should be exciting to look at — and at the same time, genuinely useful. The contents included: itinerary, expense log, maps, basic information, important notes, packing list, sightseeing information, e-ticket flight details, passport copies, hotel vouchers, Thai phrases (mainly for shopping), photos of local dishes with local names, bus stop maps, shopping list, and a list of places we wanted to visit.
