Rubin’s Vase — Black Cat

Like Rubin’s vase, when you stare closely at this piece, the black background begins to turn into a figure, and a sense of figure–ground reversal starts to occur. At times it looks like a face, at other times like an animal — its form changes greatly depending on the moment and on one’s state of mind.
Sometimes it feels as if a witch is flying through the air, or as if a shadowy figure is standing and asking a question. It leaves you with a quiet, mysterious feeling — as though the image continues to transform inside your imagination.
