Wooden Pot Cover for Hyacinths(2014)

I made this hyacinth pot cover using simple scraps of wood and bamboo skewers, pairing them with a basic hyacinth pot from the hardware store.
Looking back, realizing the quiet beauty of hyacinths was what first helped me understand the value of keeping plants in the home. In our daily lives, we tend to focus on things that make life more convenient or materially richer. But when we chase only what feels urgently necessary, we gradually lose the time and space to feel any sense of ease.
We live in an era of constant input and output — learning, working, producing — always moving, always busy. Moments such as noticing a gentle fragrance in the room, or suddenly realizing that a small bud has blossomed into a beautiful flower, are becoming unexpectedly rare.
Yet, by adding just a small element like this into our lives, our hearts can feel richer again. A simple presence, a quiet reminder of time passing — and of life continuing to bloom.
