The Charm of Handmade Leather Book Covers(2005)

I’ve been thinking about what makes a book cover appealing, and a few points came to mind:

1. It’s easy to make.
2. The character and texture of the leather come out beautifully.
3. It’s something you can actually use in everyday life.

I believe these qualities are not limited only to book covers — they are essential elements in all forms of craft and making things. Since I don’t make a living from this, there is no meaning in creating something unless I truly like it myself. From that perspective, a book cover is an excellent subject to work on, because if you feel motivated, you can complete it very quickly.
