Saddle Leather Lighter Case

I decided to make this — a leather lighter case. I don’t smoke, but I use a lighter to seal and finish loose threads when I work with leather, so I made a case just for that purpose.

If you buy something like this, it’s surprisingly expensive , even though the structure itself is quite simple. I tried making it both by hand-stitching and with a sewing machine, and although the hand-stitched version was more demanding, it turned out with a nicer feel.

The leather was given to me by a friend — I believe it is what’s known as saddle leather.
