Building a Wooden Chair for Adults

After making a children’s chair, I had another board left over, so I started thinking little by little about creating a wooden chair for adults. In the end, the finished piece turned out differently from what I originally imagined, but I’m satisfied with how it came together as a DIY project. When you sit on it, a pleasant hinoki (Japanese cypress) fragrance gently drifts up. I’m planning to fill the cracks with resin to reinforce them, and I’m still deciding whether or not to mix in a glow-in-the-dark pigment.
Since I don’t have many tools at home, I built it mostly using just a handsaw, a knife, and a grinder. The original single board was cut in half to create the seat and backrest. For the legs, I first bought a metal frame from IKEA, but after some feedback from my wife, I switched to making them from inexpensive cedar.
Materials: hinoki cypress, cedar, epoxy putty adhesive, beeswax oil finish
Production time: about one month, working on it bit by bit
